LGA - VCAMS Indicator 8.1 - School Entrant Health Questionnaire 2009-2012

This indicator represents the proportion of children entering school with basic skills for life and learning. It is part of the School Entrant Health Questionnaire (SEHQ) result from Victorian Child and Adolescent Monitoring System (VCAMS). SEHQ is a parent report instrument that records parent's concerns and observations about their child's health and well being. It is also a tool for clinical practice and a point of engagement with parents and educators. The parents of all children beginning primary school in Victoria are asked to complete the SEHQ. Analysis of the SEHQ is complementary to existing information on children's health and well being such as the Burden of Disease findings. It creates one of the largest databases available in Australia capturing parent perceptions about the health and well being of children in this particular age cohort.
